Mrs. Lou Hensley Cody passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at her home in Mars Hill, North Carolina.

Mrs. Cody was born in Burnsville, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Lola Berry and Martin Hensley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John M. Cody.

Mrs. Cody lived most of her life in Madison County, North Carolina. She was retired from Microswitch in Mars Hill. She was a member of the California Creek Baptist Church in Mars Hill.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John Sandy and Teresa Cody, of Johnson City, Tennessee; grandson, John Anthony “Ty” Cody (Jennifer); granddaughter, Jami Schreuder (Adam);and great-granddaughters, Autumn Barfield and Mynka Cody. Mrs. Cody is also survived by her dear life-long friends Doyle and Judy Cody, Lib Payne and Melba Payne.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Kimberly Heisleman and staff at the Mars Hill Clinic, Dr. Matthew Volk and staff of Mountain Kidney, Dr. Richard Bock and Dr. John Henretta and staff from Carolina Vascular, and Dr. Trevor Austin and staff of Cancer Care of Western North Carolina and Lincare of Asheville.

To honor her request, no funeral or memorial service will be held.

In lieu of food or flowers to the family, donations may be made to the California Creek Baptist Church at 131 US Hwy 23, Mars Hill, NC 28754 or to a charity of your choice.
