Obituary for Nina Ballard (Edwards)
Nina Edwards Thomas Ballard. Born April 28, 1916 in Madison County. Passed away Monday, June 20, 2016 at age 100. She was the daughter of the late Hobert and Olive Merrill Edwards. She is preceded in death by her first husband, Arnold Thomas and second husband Lattie Ballard. In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by a son, Charles Kermit-Thomas, brother, John Dale Edwards. She was a member of Little Ivy Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher, worked in bible schools and loved working for the Lord. Mrs. Ballard worked 10 years at Gibbes General Merchandise, 18 yrs. at Hammerlund Manufacturing and several yrs. at A.B. Emblem.
She is survived by a grandson, Arnold Dale Thomas; great grandsons, Seth Thomas (Ashely) and Shane Thomas (Trish); great great grandchildren, Lukas, Lilly and Miranda Thomas, Blane, Collin and Daniel Surrett; stepchildren, Wilma Jean Robinson, Mildred Ray, Roy Gus Ballard (Nancy), Bill Ballard and Ellezine Brown; step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren and nephew, John Edwards (Cindy).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 23, 2016 in the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Rev. Scott Dotson officiating. Burial will follow at the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
