Edris Willis Cassida died Saturday, March 12th, 2016. Mrs. Cassida was born January 4, 1926 to Cornelius N. and Minnie Lee Willis. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Lloyd A. Cassida, brother and a sister.
She is survived by her children; Terry Tinsley (Jack) of Orlando, FL, Rhonda Kirchner (Michael) of Bolivia, NC, John Cassida (Bette) of Murfreesboro, TN, Bonnie Cassida (Graham Higgs) of Columbia MO, and Marla Cassida (Marco Noto) of Tryon NC. She had ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren, two brothers and three sisters.
Mrs. Cassida was a graduate from Mars Hill High School. She worked in a shipyard as a welder during World War II. She worked at Hammarlund, where she met her husband and at North Buncombe High School. She was known for her paintings and published a book of poetry titled, Attic of My Mind.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, March 20th at 3 PM at the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Officiant will be her daughter, Rev. Bonnie Cassida. Burial will follow at Flat Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
