Obituary for Peyton Scott Proffitt

Peyton Scott Proffitt, age 20, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Grapevine road. Peyton graduated from Madison High School in 2013. He was on the homecoming court and played baseball for the school. His senior year he was voted "Most School Spirit" for his graduating class. Peyton was an avid Red Sox fan and went to Boston to see them play. He loved the outdoors, hiking and going on adventures with his friends.
He loved traveling and had been to Europe twice with his grandmother, sister and other family members and friends. He had visited Russia, Norway, Germany, Greece, Italy and Croatia as well as several other countries. All anyone had to say was "let's go" and Peyton was ready.
He was looking forward to a trip to Wyoming in September with his dad. Upon returning, he planned to go into the Navy and was looking forward to embracing this new adventure in his life.
Peyton was preceded in death by his grandfather E. B Proffitt Jr.
Peyton was kind with a free spirit and was very loved by his family and friends. Peyton leaves behind his mother, Cheryl Proffitt and father Scott Proffitt (Michelle).
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister Ashley Proffitt, grandmother, Willie Ogle, aunts, Dana Hensley (David), Renee Jayne (Andy), cousins, Kennedy and Kerrigan Hensley and Kimberly Smith. He will be deeply missed by numerous family members and friends.
A celebration of Peyton's life will be at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13th at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. Reverends Larry Sprouse, Phillip Parker and Buddy Freeman will officiate.
At other times the family will be at the home of Dana Hensley, 29 Moss Rd. Weaverville, NC 28787.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Madison High School Athletic Department in Memory of Peyton Proffitt c/o Gayla Reese at 5740 US Hwy 25-70 Marshall, NC 28753.
