Kathleen Hensley Coates, 88 of Grapevine Rd, Marshall passed away Friday, July 31, 2015. She was a native of Madison County and daughter of the late William Nat and Bertie Riddle Hensley. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, James C. Coates. Mrs. Coates was a senior member of Grapevine Baptist Church and a retiree of Micro-Switch Inc. She blessed her family with homemade quilts and also loved gardening, baking and making homemade canned goods for her family members.
She is survived by daughters; Judy Ann Fray (Jack) of Madison, VA, Janice Lounsbury (Jim), of Marshall, NC , Amelia “Amy” MacNichol (Scott) of Marlton, NJ, son; Craig B. Coates (Tori) of Byron, GA, grandchildren; Dana Fray Campbell (Mark), Jamie Lounsbury (Stephanie), Christoper MacNichol (Carrie Neal), Caroline Oleaga (Antonio), Danielle Suarez (Edgar) and Shannon Coates, great grandchildren; Hayden and Daniel Campbell, Brenna, Caden and Charlotte Lounsbury, Sofia and Madison Oleaga, Dakota and Eli Suarez.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2015 at Grapevine Baptist Church. Reverend Danny Jenkins will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the church. Burial will be held 2:00 PM Monday, August 3, in the Western North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Grapevine Baptist Church Cemetery Fund in memory of Kathleen Coates, c/o Treasurer Phyllis Bradley, 11 Cargile Branch Rd, Marshall, NC 28753.
