Obituary for Garry Lee Franklin

Garry Lee Franklin, of Mars Hill, age 73, passed away Thursday, April 30, 2015. He was the son of the late Floyd and Ruth Bailey Franklin. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, William Franklin and sister, Josephine Doan Smith. He worked as a cattle rancher in Arizona for 7 years earlier in life and then returned to NC where he resided as a farmer. He loved agriculture and loved talking to people. He had his own produce business and green house for many years in Mars Hill.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Wanda McMahan Franklin; daughters, Teresa Franklin of Greenville, SC, Kimberly Edmond (Roger) of Candler, Lisa Franklin of Mars Hill, and Angela Beasley of Barnardsville; a son, Marty Franklin (Barbara) also of Mars Hill; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, May 1st at the Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service with Reverends Worth Emory and Bobby Sprinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Middle Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the visitation.
