Obituary for Frank Roland Arrington

Frank Roland Arrington
After 86 fruitful years of life here with us, on the morning of Wednesday October 29, 2014 our dear and beloved Frank R. Arrington passed peacefully into the Promised Land. Frank is greeted in Heaven by our Good Lord Jesus, in whom Frank has placed his life’s trust, and by those who have passed before him, including his parents Edgar and Sue Norton Arrington, infant daughter Carol, son Darol, brothers Claude, James and Troy Arrington. Frank has lived in love with his surviving wife and closest partner, Evelyn Pack Arrington for over 66 years in marriage, commencing after his childhood years raised on Arrington Branch in the Grapevine community of Mars Hill, North Carolina. An avid gardener and woodsman, Frank enjoyed cultivating crops each season with Evelyn and sharing the harvest of good food and the warmth of his home with friends, family and countless community folks. Frank served as a deacon and sang for Jesus as a long-time member of Foster Creek Baptist Church, and also served in the workplace as a diligent and dependable contributor to the team of Sales Bleachery in Asheville, where he retired many years ago. Frank is survived also by his daughter-in-law Maxine Cody Arrington, grandchildren Dawn (Shannon) Van Etten, Dana Arrington, Pam (Mike) Frady, Sonya Cody and Sybil Cody, and siblings Lockie Phillips of Asheville, Leedola (Walter) Wills of Greeneville TN, Roxie Huffman of Mars Hill and NA Arrington of Weaverville, along with eight great-grandchildren in the area and long list of extended family members and friends whom he loved and cherished deeply. Among many in his heart include Pastor Ken Parker and countless other ministry leaders and Carson Fender, a special life-long friend of his son Darol.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Officiating will be Reverends Ken Parker, Harry Culbertson and Roger Pack. Burial will follow in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.
The Arrington family would like to extend its sincere appreciation to the entire staff of Madison Manor who assisted us in meeting Frank’s recent needs in the twilight of his life, and our deepest thanks go out to our community of friends and family including Evelyn’s siblings and extended family members for filling Frank’s life with so many years of smiles and surprises, for which he has always expressed a genuine love.
