Derotha Stockton (Carver)
Derotha Carver Stockton joined her Savior in her heavenly home on July 10, 2014. Born October 27, 1914, Derotha spent her life in Madison County and Eastern Tennessee.

Derotha is predeceased by her parents, Reverend Dave Carver and Tina Rice Carver and her husbands, Stanley Shelton, Dave Phillips and Hubert Stockton. She is also predeceased by her brothers Herbert, Emerson, Claude, Charlie, Clarence and Glenn Carver, as well as her sisters Delitha Blankenship, Mary Franklin and Viola Shelton.

Derotha is survived by her sisters Lola Adams and Foie Shelton, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was surrounded at her departure by her special nieces, Lucille Pack and Joyce Coates who cared for her until the very end.

Derotha was a devout Christian and was the oldest member of Laurel Chapel Baptist Church. Derotha’s life centered on Jesus Christ and his message of serving and helping others. She was always gardening, quilting and living a simple life, but always willing to help those in need of assistance by giving food from her garden or canned vegetables or making that special baby blanket for new additions to the family. Derotha’s influence was a huge impact on all who knew her and will never be forgotten.

Services will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Laurel Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Jenkins officiating. Burial followed the service at Upper Laurel Baptist Church cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank all the staff of Madison Health and Rehabilitation for their care of Derotha for thirteen years.
