Obituary for Deleon ""Dick"" Whitt

Deleon “Dick” Whitt passed away Sunday, April 6, 2014. Dick was born August 9, 1922 to the late Ruben and Annie Whitt. A native of Madison County, Dick was preceded in death by his first wife Grinnell Perkins Whitt. He is also preceded in death by sisters, Velma Pack and Neal Debruhl; brothers Alvin, Melvin, Jeff, Merritt, Hardy, Carol and Lawrence Whitt.
Surviving is his loving wife of many years Jessie Cartrett Whitt; daughter, Mollie Bell and husband Johnny of Bessemer City, NC; sons, Charles Whitt and wife Linda of Mt. Holly, NC, Steven Whitt of Morganton, NC; stepsons, Ronnie Cartrett and wife Shannon, Alton Cartrett and Mark Cartrett and wife Teresa. Dick had a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Laurel Chapel Baptist Church. The Reverend Bill Franklin will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
