Vance Junior Crain, 77, of Charlotte, NC, passed away at home July 25, 2016, with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Madison County and preceded in death by his parents, Vance and Nola Shelton Crain and a brother, Varden Crain.
Mr. Crain was modest but proud of his family, military service and his many accomplishments in his 40 plus years in the trucking industry.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irene Edmonds Crain; 2 sons, Randall of Pacifica, CA, and Freddy and wife Carolina of Gastonia; two grandchildren, Sofia and Tonito; brothers, Truman (Nancy) of Mars Hill, Donald (Clydene) of Fort Myers, FL, Romas of Erwin, TN; special nieces, LaDonna Crain, Brenda Meetze (Butch;) and his cat Buddy.
A funeral service will be held at 2pm Thursday, July 28, 2016, at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Rev. Junior Hensley will officiate. Burial will follow in the Upper Laurel Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Wednesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the Edmonds home place, 160 Culberson Branch, Mars Hill, NC 28754.
