Thelma  Ponder (Lewis)
Thelma Lewis Ponder, 78, of 10505 NC Hwy 23, passed away Monday, April 18, 2016 at Madison Manor Health and Rehabilitation. She was the daughter of the late Andy and Hattie Crowe Lewis. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Vernon James Ponder; grandsons, Colby and Cody Norton; sister, Pansy Dale; brothers, Andy Lewis Jr. and Roy J. Lewis.
Mrs. Ponder is survived by a daughter Renee Norton (Roy); sons, Darrell Ponder (Deanna), Daren Ponder (Kerry), and Chris Carver; grandchildren, Amber (Ryan), Hannah, Jackson, Jordan, Jasper, J.J., Drew, Grae and Ashley; great grandson, John Michael English; sisters, Helen Fish (Owen), Marie Willis (Edgar), Dortha Thorpe (Kenneth) ;brother, David Lewis (Jane) and brother-in-law, Ned Dale.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, April 21, at Upper laurel Baptist Church. Reverend's Cline Hensley Jr. and Kermit Ball will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8:00pm Wednesday, April 20, at Upper laurel Baptist Church.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Madison Manor and Rehabilitation for the care they gave Mrs. Ponder during her stay.
