David “D.C.” Rice passed away Monday April 11, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Cullis and Eunice Wildes Rice. D.C. was a lifelong resident of Madison County, a member of Blue Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and owner of Rice's Automotive in Mars Hill.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Treadway Rice, sons, Tony Rice (Jeni), Jason Rice (Jessica); sisters, Betty Rigsby Murray (Roger), Robbie Gunter (Junior); brothers, Bobby Rice, Gene Rice (Tia), Johnny Rice (Linda); grandchildren, Rachel Miller (Robbie), Tony Rice Jr., Landon Rice (Samantha), step grandchildren, Thomas Sprouse and Nick Rutherford; great grandchildren, Kenzi and Xaidon Rice.
A funeral service will be held 2:00pm Thursday, April 14 at Robbie Capps Memorial Chapel of Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends James Hensley and Billy Murray will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hunter Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00pm Wednesday April 13, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to Blue Ridge Funeral Service, PO Box 27, Mars Hill, NC 28754, to assist with final expenses.
