Condolences

Condolence From: Ricky Anderson
Condolence: Dear Gerald and Family,
I want to express my condolences. Alda Jean was a beautiful person inside and out. She was one of the most pleasant people I have ever had the pleasure of being around. I remember Daddy and me coming to her house, looking for Gerald who was supposed to have been ready to play golf with us 30 minutes or an hour earlier. Alda Jean would just say, "Oh, you know Gerald. He's not going to get in a hurry!" I can honestly say that I never saw her be mad or overly upset at anything. That kind of attitude can only come from a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
I wish you all nothing but the best. It has been and will continue to be my pleasure to count you as my friends.

Sincerely,
Ricky

Condolence: I was a student at North Buncombe when Mrs. Young taught there. I remember her fondly as being a kind and effective teacher, who posed a real love for teaching. I extend my deepest sympathy to the family during this time of loss and sadness.

Condolence: I remember Mrs. Young when I was a student at Mars Hill College in the mid 80's and worked with the youth at Mars Hill Baptist Church. She was always so kind to me. I remember Tammie fondly, as she was in the church youth group. My thoughts and prayers are with the Young family.

Condolence From: David & Irma Arrowood Holcombe
Condolence: Dear Mrs. Young used to chase me away from her classroom door as I hung around for one more look at that beautiful senior I had just started dating. That was in 1956 at North Buncombe High School, and the class was Irma's chorus. Dear Mrs. Young was really young, and we kidded about it (but never where she might hear!) Her beautiful smile, her charm, and her talents made this young teacher one of the most popular and effective in our young school. Now Irma and I have recently celebrated 55 years of marriage, and we still talk about those good years at NB high. Thank you, dear Mrs. Young, for being such a vital part of those good times.

God bless her family, for God blessed us many years ago with her presence at North Buncombe.

Condolence: Mrs. Young was one of my favorite teachers at Madison High School. She was always so enthusiastic and taught me to truly appreciate classical music. She always had a smile and encouraging word to offer. I also have fond memories of coming over for sleep overs, at your house, Tammy. Your Mom was a dear and special Lady! She will long be remembered, as she touched so many lives.
My deepest condolences to you, Tammy, Eugene, and Mr. Young.

Condolence: "Where do I being?" In conversation with my sister in Asheville this morning, she sadly informed me of Ms. Young's passing. Interestingly, she had been weighing very heavily on my mind these past few months and on my next visit to family in Asheville, I had felt the urge to try and make a point of connection with her, BUT I have missed that window of opportunity. I have nothing but the highest of regard in memories of her. She was influential in my life as a high school English teacher, where she left no "t" uncrossed and no "i' undotted as she articulated the joys of an English class to her students, always making it an exciting and enjoyable journey. I also had the good fortune to experience her musical gifts, as she directed the music at my home church of Flat Creek Baptist for a short period of time. She always inspired us musically to give our "best". A unique woman, she possessed only the best qualities of life. These qualities were infectious to all those that encountered her, always making you want to be a little better person, yourself. I am truly thankful that she was able to "touch my life". Blessings to the family! Your lives are surely enriched by such a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother!

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear about Mrs. Young's passing. She was a great influence in my life as a young girl in her class at North Buncombe High School. This is where I really learned to love to read and enjoy a good book. She also would come occasionally to lead the choir at Flat Creek Baptist church and her love of music always, just as her love of the written word, transcended the pages to inspire and lift us to a higher level. I send my condolences and love to family and friends.
