Obituary for Gladys Fender Shelton

Gladys Fender Shelton, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, of the Grapevine Community, went to be with the Lord, Friday, February 13, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Jim and Ester Rice Fender and a native of Madison County having lived the latter of her life in Yancey County. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Fred Enloe Shelton; grandchild, Lolita Shelton; great grandchildren, Devin and Dustin Ducker; and a daughter-in-law, Wilma Shelton.
She is survived by her children, Elmer Shelton, Mack Shelton, Annette Ducker, Ethel Goforth (Fred), Chris Shelton (Denise), Felicia Phillips and Freda Roberts (Randy); sister, Peg Duncan; grandchildren, Michael, James and Shawn Ducker, Lisa Shelton Rumpf, Chasity Jenkins, Tiphanie Shelton, Daniel Roberts and Kayla Phillips; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, February 17, 2015, at Grapevine Baptist Church. Reverends Danny Jenkins and Ken Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in the Thomas Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8pm Monday at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Chris and Denise Shelton, 143 S. Ammons Branch Road, Marshall, NC 28753.
