Obituary for Rossie Buckner (Thomas)

Rossie Thomas Buckner, 96, of 1227 North Main Street, passed away October 28, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Buckner was a lifelong resident of Madison County and the daughter of the late, Fred and Lessie Hamlin Thomas. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Newton Buckner, sisters, Clara Thomas, Julia Buckner, Edith Keith, Juanita Lemin and Carol Ramsey; brothers, Doug, Hershel “Bud” and Locke Thomas.
She is survived by daughters Rita Maney (Leonard) of Mars Hill, JoAnn Arrowood of Weaverville; sons, Delbert Buckner (Dee), of Arkansas, Paul Buckner (Nancy) of Weaverville; sister, Margaret Ann Buckner, 10 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Buckner’s funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Thursday, October 30 at Calvary Baptist Church, of which she was the oldest member. Reverend Glenn Graves will officiate. Burial will follow in the Mars Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
At other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Buckner, 1227 N. Main Street, Mars Hill.
