Grace Robinson Ray, 83 of Ray Drive passed away Monday, April 14, 2014 at Mission Hospital. She was a native of Yancey County and had lived most of her life in Madison County. She was a daughter of the late Greenberry and Bessie McIntosh Robinson. Grace is also preceded in death by her husband Milt Ray, son David Ray, brothers; Carmel, Frank, Earl and Dewey Robinson, sisters; Mary Lou Jamerson and Shirley Robinson.
Grace enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and also working in her garden, flowers and quilting. She was a member of Metcalf Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are her children; James Ray (Rita), Doris Penland and Shirley Wallin (Danny), grandchildren; Darrell Gardner (Joyce), Denise Metcalf (Kevin Tipton), Stephanie Payne (Brad), Mark Wallin (Brooke), Andy Ray, Phillip Woody (Tammy), great grandchildren; Jennifer and Jackson Ledford, Cheyenne and Trenton Metcalf, Amber and Austin Payne, Blake and Logan Wallin, Cade and Kadee Woody, brothers; Jerry, Cecil, Gay and Elic Robinson, sisters; Betty Ray, Pansy Hathaway, Inez Quinn and numerous nephews, nieces and special friends.
A funeral service will be held Friday, April 18, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Blue Ridge Funeral Service. Reverends Cecil Robinson, Clyde Metcalf Jr. and Ronnie Robinson will officiate. Burial will follow in Brown- Ray Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
