Obituary for John Howard Payne

John Howard  Payne
John Howard Payne, age 76, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at home. He is preceded in death by his parents, George W. Payne and Martha Whittemore Payne, sister, Barbara Jean Edwards and son, Radney Payne.
John is survived by his wife of 48 yrs, Cora Lee Boone Payne, brothers, Michael Payne and his wife Elizabeth; sisters Kathy Payne, Sherry Correll and her husband David, sons, John Payne Jr., and his wife Pam of Weaverville, Darrell Payne of Swananoa; one daughter, Loretta Sawyer and her husband Rickey of Manteo, NC, seven grandchildren, Dustin, Brandon, John III, Aaron, Madeline, David and Asa, three great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
He was born August 22, 1937 in Madison County, NC. He was a retired U.S Navy veteran serving in Viet Nam three times. He lived in Dare County, NC for 30 years, wearing many hats; a Dare Co. Deputy, volunteer fireman, locksmith, and maintenance man. He loved his carpentry shop where he made many "all occasion" gifts. He loved everyone and helped out many causes.
A Memorial Service will be held at Middle Fork Baptist Church Saturday, April 19th at 1:00 PM. A visitation will follow in fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Madison County Hospice or the Alzheimers' Association.
