Message to the Family: Wesley came to me as a sixth grader during my first year as a teacher. What I remember most about Wesley was his honesty and smile. At the end of that year, I had the students write me letters about their experience in my class and this is what Wesley wrote, "I am so sad that this is my last day when I first came to this school I hated reading and writing. It still isn't my favorite thing but at least I can do it now and I am getting better grades in this class then I am in the class I liked so I just wanted to say goodbye and thanks." I read this this morning and I smiled remembering how much he stood out as somebody forthright and knowing exactly who he was at a time when most children are only just beginning to know. There are truly no words to express how deeply sorry I am for the loss to you, Lesa, and your family.
